A Prophetic Warning Of Apostasy Given in 1965, Now Fulfilled


I have removed this prophecy after receiving wise advice.

However, I have left the comments here, as the discussion highlights some important points.

It was pointed out to me some biblical doctrinal issues in this prophecy.

Although this prophecy may show doctrinal standpoints, there are areas I think should be taken seriously. Part of those parts I have highlighted should be taken seriously.

Specifically relating to us being careful to study the bible in our days and especially watching out for false teachers/prophets.

Especially those who tickle our ears and promise us great things. Jesus did say that in these last days it may be possible to deceive even the elect.

The aim of posting this prophecy is to encourage us to study the scriptures fervently and with a sincere heart

Comment. John. With respect my brother, you could have declared this from Scripture without support from the faulty exegesis in this piece of writing.

Comment. Matthew 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, IF POSSIBLE, even the elect.

I can agree with this in principle, yet the context Jesus was speaking specifically to the elect Jews, not the Church. Evidence shows that it is VERY possible for the Church to be deceived. Unlike the believing Jews/elect tutored in the Word who have a much more tenacious grip on Scripture than the Church at large, for them to be deceived is unlikely. It is not possible for this ‘elect’ to be deceived, at least not for long, unlike Gentile believers. imo.

Comment. Again, this does not require the vain, inadequate murmurings of man, but only the authority of God’s Word. E.g.

2Tim.2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16.But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17.And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18. Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

And Or

John 14:23Jesus answered and said unto him, IF a man love me, he will KEEP MY WORDS: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Why I consider this approach unwise, is because of the actions of the likes of Benny Hinn, Kim Clement and their ilk! Be wary of seeming to condone ‘prophecies’ of man, it could inadvertently lead the 'babes in Christ' astray by thinking you approve. The only safe way is to lean only upon God’s Word with healthy exhortation.

God bless you John, I recognise that you mean well, but we all need to be as wise as serpents in this last day.

I would have liked to have replied to you personally rather than here, but as I do not have your email address or know how to comment to you without it being seen publically, I guess I will have to answer here. If there is a way I can reply to you personally please let me know.

The reason I posted the whole prophecy rather than by simply quoting scripture was to highlight that God had been speaking directly to our generation warning of the coming apostasy as early as the 1960's. I thought it particularly poignant because it came through an Elim Pentecostal man. The denomination that is the worst culprit for apostasy. As I also came out of the Babylonic church I am hoping that Elim readers of my blog may also take me more seriously about studying the scriptures, if the words of exhortation are spoken by their own people.

I take your point and may decide to remove this article. Need to think and pray about it.

The scripture does say not to despise prophesying but to weigh up what is said. That would indicate that prophecy is ok if it meets the criteria of a prophecy. Why are we allowed to prophecy if all we need to do is teach the scriptures?

I fully emphasise that the scriptures are fully sufficient for us and that we don't necessarily need prophecy, so why have it?

I guess because (if used correctly) prophecy can RE-EMPHASISE the scriptures and get our attention in a different way.

I believed that this prophecy was doing just that. Also prophecy is designed to warn us of a coming danger. Example in Acts, prophecy of Agabus about the coming famine. Also prophecy can mobilise/challenge us to get right with God. Anyway back to you.

Hello John,
I am not a cessationist, my experience (that word!) is that the gifts are predominantly for private exhortation or in careful God trusting small groups known to us.

We are warned not to cast our pearls before swine, they will only turn and rend us – I am certain you understand what I mean by this.

Prophecy is a potential ‘fire-storm’, it starts off as a small spark, and blown by rumour can now spread the world in a few seconds via the internet. PUBLICALLY publishing this ‘prophecy’ MAY have the effect you intended, but just as easily get wildly out of hand by the less experienced.

Handled unwisely, It can cause the young to look for more and more of ‘it’ while considering God’s Word ‘less exciting’. I consider this is best kept out of the world’s domain and under your personal care in a small assembly where you can quickly nip excess in the bud – little harm done.

(Agabus) IF The Lord makes it very, very clear to add to His word in order to e.g. warn a nation, then act in trust and do it. BUT you had best be totally convinced it is not merely a ‘good idea’. We are living in perilous times.

1Tim.4: Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Hi Wary, again thanks for your advice and help. Very useful.

I will probably delete this post, but before I do I just want to advise you and everybody else who may read your comment that there are at least 2 different Don Stewart's.

There is one DS you should be aware of and avoid. Ensure the distinction is made whenever promoting one of them. One DS is a prosperity false teacher (Word Faith) who preaches heresy.

However, the one Wary mentions is a partner with Chuck Smith. Although I don't know much about this Don Stewart I guess he is ok if he associates with Chuck Smith.

The Lord will never ADD to His Word in prophecy but support, confirm and speak out of the wealth of truth from His Word etc. He may speak through prophecy as a warning (like Agabus) but it is not adding to the bible and the prophecy cannot be treated with the same authority as the bible.

This is why we should always grow in our knowledge of the Lord through His Word and not through extra biblical means.

I know you meant that, but I say these things in case someone else is reading this.

In 2010 I was rather ignorant regarding Chuck Smith and unaware of his ecumenical leanings and bad connections.

Please note that I cannot endorse Chuck Smith any longer. The evidence of these ecumenical connections and teachings are now provided throughout the internet.
